Our client, a leading consultancy in high-hazard sectors, is looking for an experienced Senior or Principal Human Factors Consultant to join their expanding team. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of Human Factors projects with clients in industries such as nuclear, clean energy & oil & gas.

About the Role:

As a Senior/Principal Human Factors Consultant, you will lead the delivery of complex Human Factors assessments while managing project teams. You'll be responsible for enhancing team capabilities through mentoring, technical leadership, and driving innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading Human Factors assessments for complex projects, ensuring solutions are proportionate and fit for purpose.

Supporting Human Factors design, safety case assessments, and project integration.

Managing small teams and mentoring junior staff.

Identifying human error risks and applying appropriate Human Factors methods to mitigate them.

Providing tailored Human Factors solutions across various domains, including control room design, equipment layout, alarm systems, competency management, and workspace design.

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting coherent solutions to clients and regulatory bodies.

Delivering Human Factors support across both established (e.g., nuclear) and emerging sectors

Skills and Experience:

Extensive experience leading and delivering Human Factors support for high-hazard projects, ideally within the nuclear sector or similar industries.

A degree in a related subject (e.g., Human Factors, ergonomics, psychology, industrial design).

Chartered status or working towards chartership with The Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.

Excellent technical report writing skills.

Thorough knowledge of UK regulations and standards relevant to Human Factors.

Experience working with regulatory bodies and an understanding of various regulatory regimes.

Willingness to travel to client sites as required.

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance and hold permanent UK residency.
