Our client, who are an International Chemicals and Energy Operator, are recruiting for a Mechanical Integrity Specialist, to join their facility in Lima, Ohio. The role will be based onsite full time.
The Mechanical Integrity Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of fixed equipment, utilizing expertise in mechanical engineering and standards related to process safety management (PSM), and collaborating with inspection teams.
A Total Quality Management System should be integrated into all job activities, and all tasks should be executed in a safe and efficient manner, aligned with company safety principles and practices.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Upholding and promoting company Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with support organizations and other locations to share and implement best practices.
- Working closely with operations and maintenance personnel to improve unit reliability.
- Participating in unit design reviews, management of change processes, HAZOPs, and root cause failure analyses when required.
- Actively contributing to plant turnarounds.
- Reviewing and evaluating mechanical design drawings and specifications.
- Assessing equipment fitness for service and recommending repair options.
- Reviewing contracts for design and construction management on engineering projects.
- Managing engineering projects, including overseeing issues, budgets, and schedules.
- Ensuring drawings and equipment conform to relevant standards and specifications.
- Supervising third-party contractors.
- Preparing engineering analyses for projects, including preliminary design, calculations, life cycle cost assessments, and equipment selection.
- Taking responsibility for the mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping, recommending new designs and improvements for existing plant equipment, troubleshooting problems, and proposing solutions.
- Demonstrating advanced expertise in mechanical integrity and design engineering, contributing innovative solutions to complex technical issues.
- Providing technical input into procurement strategies for piping and equipment, working with Procurement on related commercial matters, including qualification of equipment fabricators.
- Offering input on equipment standards to enhance mechanical integrity, reliability, and competitive advantage.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
Education/Experience:
- Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in petrochemical or chemical facilities in a mechanical integrity role.
Skills/Competencies:
- Expertise in PSM Mechanical Integrity.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in API standards, welding, and heat-treating procedures.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with both external vendors and employees at all levels.
