Senior Process Engineer

Our client is developing one of Norway’s first large-scale hydrogen facilities, supported as part of a national initiative to establish maritime hydrogen hubs. With construction set to begin in 2024, the initial phase is expected to be operational by 2026. A future phase is planned to expand capacity further. The primary goal of this facility is to supply green hydrogen as a renewable fuel for maritime activities along Norway’s coast and in nearby waters. Our client is also advancing several other hydrogen projects in Norway and across Europe.

They are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join their team. This role will involve supporting innovative green hydrogen projects and driving technical oversight, compliance, and on-site coordination across key phases of project development and operations.

Areas of Responsibility and Tasks

  • Technical Oversight: Conduct design and document reviews; support in the selection of equipment and suppliers.
  • Safety and Compliance: Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, and other essential regulatory assessments to ensure project compliance.
  • Project Development: Contribute to the development and expansion of hydrogen facilities, supporting new phases of key projects.
  • Coordination and Control: Oversee integration across work packages, including electrolysers, compressors, storage, and heat recovery systems.
  • Project Execution: Manage work package production, progress tracking, and perform factory inspections, cold and hot commissioning, FAT, SAT, and performance testing.
  • On-site Management: Supervise on-site installation and ensure project milestones are met according to quality and compliance standards.
  • Operations and Analysis: Support facility operations through data analysis to improve performance and enable early fault detection.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers and facility operators to develop and maintain an effective maintenance schedule.

Qualifications

  • Chemical, Mechanical or Related Engineering Degree.
  • Proven experience in process engineering, ideally within hydrogen, syngas or renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of HAZID, HAZOP, and QRA processes.
  • Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Benefits

  • Flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge energy solutions.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including pension and insurance plans.
  • Participation in a dynamic team with the chance to shape the future of renewable energy solutions.
