Principal Fire Safety Engineer
Our client, a leading consultancy in high-risk industries, is seeking a Principal Fire Safety Engineer to join their Health, Safety & Risk team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Fire Safety Engineer, or a Senior Engineer ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the delivery of fire engineering and safety projects in various high-risk industries.
Developing fire safety strategies and conducting conventional fire engineering assessments.
Performing high hazard fire scenario analysis and fire safety strategies across sectors such as industrial, residential, and commercial.
Facilitating fire hazard study workshops and performing fire modelling or interpreting fire modelling results.
Assessing fire risks and hazards, and evaluating prevention and protective measures to mitigate fire risks.
Providing technical expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of fire detection, suppression, and control systems.
Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including regulators and clients, to ensure project requirements are met.
Travelling to client sites across the UK (and occasionally overseas) to provide on-site support.
Building and maintaining long-term client relationships and frameworks.
Identifying business development opportunities and understanding the commercial implications of decisions.
Mentoring and developing junior staff within the team.
Who We’re Looking For
Demonstrated experience in the technical delivery of fire engineering projects.
A degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline (either as a first degree or post-grad following a relevant STEM degree).
Strong understanding of UK fire safety regulations and standards (e.g. ADB, BS9999, RRFSO, PAS 79, PD 7974).
Familiarity with other regulatory regimes.
Confident in liaising with clients, design teams, local authorities, contractors, and other third parties.
Strong numeracy, report writing, and time management skills.
High attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
