Our client, who are an international energy business, are recruiting for a Maintenance Manager for their plant in Pasadena, Texas.
Job Purpose:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the maintenance function to ensure equipment reliability and safe operations across the facility. This includes the development and execution of preventive, routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Foster a strong safety culture through regular safety meetings, job task assessments, and by promoting safe work practices. - Maintenance Leadership:
Lead, motivate, and coordinate the maintenance team, ensuring efficient use of resources for routine and emergency repairs. Ensure high levels of internal cooperation between production and maintenance teams. - Maintenance Planning:
Oversee the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime. Coordinate scheduled maintenance activities, including plant shutdowns and turnarounds. - Contractor Management:
Manage relationships with third-party contractors, ensuring quality services and cost-effective solutions. Act as the primary contract administrator for external maintenance vendors. - Budgeting & Cost Control:
Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including planning for long-term capital expenditures. Track and control maintenance-related costs to ensure efficient use of financial resources. - Process & Quality Management:
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and Process Safety Management (PSM) standards. Promote continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and operational efficiency. - Team Development:
Provide leadership and development opportunities for the maintenance team. Facilitate training and certifications to ensure staff are qualified and up-to-date on current industry standards and safety requirements. - Emergency Response:
Maintain readiness for emergency repairs and lead the team in resolving breakdowns swiftly to minimize downtime. Collaborate with external contractors as necessary to meet urgent needs.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field preferred). - Experience:
8+ years of maintenance experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. Strong background in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, and contractor management is essential. - Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Familiarity with SHE regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP or CMMS).
- Experience in managing budgets and controlling operational costs.
- Hands-on experience with small tools, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in overseeing maintenance in a 24/7 operating facility.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles.
- Certification in Maintenance Management or a similar field is a plus.
