Senior Process Engineer
Our client is developing one of Norway’s first large-scale hydrogen facilities, supported as part of a national initiative to establish maritime hydrogen hubs. With construction set to begin in 2024, the initial phase is expected to be operational by 2026. A future phase is planned to expand capacity further. The primary goal of this facility is to supply green hydrogen as a renewable fuel for maritime activities along Norway’s coast and in nearby waters. Our client is also advancing several other hydrogen projects in Norway and across Europe.
They are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join their team. This role will involve supporting innovative green hydrogen projects and driving technical oversight, compliance, and on-site coordination across key phases of project development and operations.
Areas of Responsibility and Tasks
Technical Oversight: Conduct design and document reviews; support in the selection of equipment and suppliers.
Safety and Compliance: Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, and other essential regulatory assessments to ensure project compliance.
Project Development: Contribute to the development and expansion of hydrogen facilities, supporting new phases of key projects.
Coordination and Control: Oversee integration across work packages, including electrolysers, compressors, storage, and heat recovery systems.
Project Execution: Manage work package production, progress tracking, and perform factory inspections, cold and hot commissioning, FAT, SAT, and performance testing.
On-site Management: Supervise on-site installation and ensure project milestones are met according to quality and compliance standards.
Operations and Analysis: Support facility operations through data analysis to improve performance and enable early fault detection.
Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers and facility operators to develop and maintain an effective maintenance schedule.
Qualifications
Chemical, Mechanical or Related Engineering Degree.
Proven experience in process engineering, ideally within hydrogen, syngas or renewable energy projects.
Strong understanding of HAZID, HAZOP, and QRA processes.
Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

They are now looking for a Project Engineer to join the project team and contribute to the successful delivery of this pioneering venture. This role involves working on the engineering and technical aspects of hydrogen plant design, construction, and operation.
Areas of Responsibility and Tasks
Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring assigned tasks within the project.
Validate design, technical solutions.
Prepare AFE.
Ensure required permitting to deliver the project is in place.
Prepare tendering documents and run clarifications with all suppliers and partners.
Negotiate contracts and prepare purchase orders.
Organize supervision during the building phase.
Manage FAT/SAT.
Manage commissioning and startup.
Prepare all related documentation pertaining to the site.
Perform all cost control related to the project.
Hand over the installation to the exploitation and maintenance team.
Develop and execute project plans, including scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation.
Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues or delays.
Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.
Prepare and present project status reports.

Proven experience as a Project Engineer in the relevant field, with a successful track record of delivering projects on time, within budget and the level of performance required.
