Cost Engineer
Introduction
We are currently seeking a Cost Engineer for our client based in Antwerp. This role is critical in analyzing project cost data, starting from the preparation of a control budget in line with the "as sold" figures received from the commercial department.
Function
The Cost Engineer is responsible for:
- Analyzing actual costs versus the control budget throughout all phases of the project.
- Determining the forecasted final costs based on available information regarding quantities and unit rates.
- Highlighting possible variances and reporting them through deviation reports.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and supporting the project manager in implementing corrective actions.
- Performing trend analysis on quantities and productivity metrics.
- Checking invoices and preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Managing budget release activities for procurement and subcontracting campaigns.
- Managing cost databases and templates.
- Preparing reports and presentations on project costs and cost management strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures related to cost control.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Control, Management Engineering, or a similar field.
- 3+ years of experience in cost engineering and related issues.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques.
- Experience with cost-estimating software and tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, stakeholders, and other team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
